Journey of Moses and circumcision of his second son – Sistine Chapel – Vatican City

This work was realized by Perugino together with his assistants, including Pintoricchio.
The scene, set in a fairy-tale landscape characterized by some large rocks, narrates on top the departure of Moses, who is distinguished by the yellow and green dress, following the exile in the land of Midian. Midwhile his journey, in the center, an angel stops him to ask to circumcise his second son, Eliezer as a physical sign of the Covenant stipulated by God with the lineage of Abraham. On the right, the circumcision ceremony is happening, and Mother Zippora is taking care of it.
The large fresco is preservedin the Vatican Museums, in the Sistine Chapel.
