Madonna with Child – Church of Annunziata – Fontignano (Perugia)
The paintings in Fontignano are the last executed by Perugino during his life: now old, he was caught by the plague while working in the village, where he is in fact buried.
This enthroned Madonna with Child reflects the style of the painter at the end of his career, with the use of clear and transparent colors and the repeating of the same preparatory drawings of the artwork preserved in the church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Spello; unfortunately, the poor state of conservation does not allow any further reflection.
The fresco is preserved at the Church of Annunziata in Fontignano.
