Musée des Beaux-Arts – Grenoble
The Musée des Beaux Arts de Grenoble was founded in 1798 at the behest of Louis Joseph Jay, therefore it is one of the oldest museums in France.
The museum was housed from 1876 to 1993 in a neoclassical building, designed by the architect Charles-Auguste Questel; in 1994 the collections were then transferred to the current structure, designed by the architects Olivier Félix-Faure, Antoine Félix-Faure and Philippe Macary from the Grenoble Groupe architectural firm, assisted by the museographer Lorenzo Piqueras.
The museum preserves a vast collection, with works of art that cover a time span ranging from ancient Egypt to contemporary art.
