Nationalmuseum – Stockholm

The Nationalmuseum, the most important gallery in Sweden, is housed in a building designed in 1844 by the German architect Friedrich August Stüler, also responsible for the construction of the Neues Museum in Berlin.
The building is located in the Blasieholmen peninsula, overlooking the sea.

The museum exterior design is inspired by the Renaissance architecture of Northern Italy, while inside the spaces are large and dominated by a large staircase leading to the galleries of the upper floors.

Among the most important artworks preserved in the NationalMuseum, there is the San Sebastiano by Perugino.
