Deruta during Renaissance: how Perugino influences the local ceramic production
20/08/2022
Piazza dei Consoli, Deruta
During the event, which will take place in the heart of the historic center of Deruta, the interweaving between the tradition of painted ceramics, which characterizes the village since ancient times, and the unmistakable pictorial style of Perugino will be emphasized. The illustrious example of the Eternal between Saint Rocco and Saint Romano, preserved in the Pinacoteca of Deruta, is the emblem of the presence of Perugino here: his influence can be seen not only on the artistic production on panel and fresco, but also on the very refined and inimitable ceramic production.
The innovative format “Arte sotto le stelle” will allow the public to observe tiny details of the works taken into account thanks to the projection of images of the highest quality and definition, tracing the starting point for an in-depth reflection on Perugino’s relationship with Deruta and on the stylistic influences of the artist on local ceramics, as well as the events that have affected the master’s masterpieces following the passage of Napoleon’s troops in Umbria.
In the afternoon, it will be also possible to take part to guided tours at the Museo Regionale della Ceramica, where the precious works of art are preserved.
