Chapel of San Severo
Piazza Raffaello, 06122 Perugia PG
On the occasion of the five hundredth anniversary of the death of the most famous painter of Perugia, Pietro Vannucci known as “Perugino”, the partecipants to the festival SEED will have the chance to join a guided tour at the place that preserves the only fresco certainly executed by both Perugino and Raphael, who, during his youth, had the opportunity to attend the workshop of the Umbrian Master: the Trinity and Saints of San Severo. The Chapel of San Severo, the only surviving part of the ancient church demolished in the eighteenth century and then rebuilt in late-baroque, will be exceptionally open in the evening for the tour, organized by Archimede Arte. During the visit, it will be possible to compare the different styles of these two artists, whose experiences have had fundamental points of contact: Raphael learns from Perugino during his stay in Umbria, acquiring the balance and the pictorial grace that will allow him to be appreciated in the Rome of the Popes, where he will perfect his technique and make it unique.
