Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie – Senigallia

The Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie and its convent are located in Senigallia, in the province of Ancona; the building was commissioned in 1490 to the architect Baccio Pontelli da Urbino by Giovanni delle Rovere, lord of Senigallia, and dedicated to Our Lady of Grace as a vow for the birth of his son, Francesco Maria I. In 1491 the convent was also built, inhabited by the Franciscan friars since 1492; however, the construction works of the complex were completed only in 1684.

The place of worship preserves some valuable artistic works: in one of the two cloisters of the monastery there are in fact the frescoes, dating back to 1598, depicting the life of Saint Francis, while in the apse of the church there is the altarpiece depicting the Virgin Enthroned with Saints by Perugino.
