Fondazione Perugia – Perugia
The Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio, today known only as Fondazione Perugia, was founded in 1992 thanks to Legge Amato, deeply wanted by Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, governor of Banca D’Italia at that time: the current laws provided the division between credit business and charity and fund for cultural activities, to be carried on with a non-profit organisation.
Fondazione Perugia acquired and restored several important buildings in Perugia, Assisi and Gubbio. Because of the growing collection, it was necessary to move it from the institutional location of Casa di Risparmio and place it to an historical building in the heart of Perugia’s downtown, Palazzo Graziani.
The art collection counts more than 200 paintings by great Masters such as Perugino, Raffaello, Pintoricchio and Tiziano, covering a period from Middle Ages to XX century.
